The Marvellous Mrs Maisel – Season 4
I only had the chance to watch the first episode of the new season, but I wanted to write about The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel to give you the chance to enjoy it, as I am planning to do, over the weekend. It’s one of the very few new series I’ve picked up in recent years.
The story of a 50s Jewish housewife becoming a stand-up comedian against all odds and prejudice is compelling, even though it is set in a humorous tone, sometimes borderline silly and completely unrealistic, which is not entirely to my taste. But when that happens, I switch my focus on the impeccable period costumes, all the matching suits, the balloon coats, the exquisite hats and also the beautifully curated domestic interiors.
It is a joy to watch, I hope you enjoy it!
Christie’s Art-World Instagram List
If you have an interest in art and would like to curate your Instagram feed with some heavy inspiration and big names, Christie’s has just released a guide to 100 art-world Instagram accounts to follow right now. Split between Artists, Tastemakers, Museums and Galleries, Collectors and Curators, Directors and Gallerists, I haven’t had the chance to browse properly yet, but the links live in my OneTab and their turn will come for sure.
I hope you find inspiration among them.
Iris Apfel x H&M
I love Iris Apfel and to see her live her best life at 100, celebrating with many cool projects, is pure joy to see. The latest is a collection with H&M which was only released yesterday. As you can imagine, there are many statement pieces that could become staples of one’s wardrobe for decades to come.
With all my desire to embrace more colour, I am still very shy when it comes to busy prints, but I think the above blouse is exquisite and I hope I might get might hand on one, as well as maybe on some accessories. I wish the ring above was a brooch, but no reason why I couldn’t turn it into one.
As it always happens with these H&M collabs, everything is already sold out online. That being said, you can often find the items in-store and it’s worth checking even a week or so after the launch when new stock from returns might pop on shelves.
What would you get?
Books Wallpaper
For a while now, as you may remember, I’ve been thinking of replacing the big palm leaves wallpaper in my bedroom with a new one, mainly because it has started to peel off. Recently, inspired by this absolutely brilliant book lamp, I started thinking about a wallpaper featuring books paired with a couple of these lamps suspended from the ceiling to complete the decor.
I did a bit of research and was surprised to find a couple of really good looking options, that also wouldn’t break the bank, particularly the one above, by also more than a few options on photowall.co.uk.
And if by any chance you’re looking for a staircase makeover, the stickers below are brilliant, I wish my staircase wasn’t fully carpeted. I would click Buy It Now without even blinking.
The Cup Holder
Source – I love the polished and classy look of this Anya Hindmarch example. And oh my, also look at this wine glass holder too! Far less practical, but yes, please.
Do you love coffee or tea to the point that you often find yourself with a cup in your hand? This accessory is for you! I first spotted the concept on Etsy and now I see there are a few options out there, with some being seriously chic. I believe it can be quite handy, especially if you want to have your hand free to text with both hands, for example.
Of course, it is one of those accessories I can’t help but fall for because you can absolutely live without them and they only serve one specific purpose. It demonstrates extraordinary attention to detail, but also leisure and interest to even know about something like this, as well as disposable income to indulge. Or is it just me?
Fashioning the Rose at the Garden Museum
A couple of weekends ago I went to see the Fashioning the Rose exhibition at the Garden Museum in London (the only such museum in the UK). It was a perfumed little treat that gave me the perfect opportunity to explore this museum I’d never visited before, set up in a beautiful and very old building that used to be a church, complete with a medieval tower.
Climb the over one hundred and thirty steps in a dizziness-inducing narrow spiral staircase and you are rewarded with beautiful views of central London, the Thames bank, Westminster Palace and other such iconic landmarks. It’s an off-the-radar attraction, if I may say, and it will reveal many hidden treasures, like some beautiful vintage garden landscaping wooden toy sets which I would have loved to know about when my son was a little younger. Unfortunately, I can’t find anything like them online, I might need to dig deeper, excuse the pun.
It was lovely to see some favourite artists and designers exhibiting, like Lulu Guinness with her rose basket vintage bag and Anne Tomlin with her burgundy velvet rose. The hats were exquisite too. I highly recommend a visit if you get the chance before June.
Rose Apple Tarts
Still thinking about the above-mentioned exhibition, they have a lovely line-up of supporting events and talks, but also some delightful content on their Instagram, like a tutorial for these pretty rose apple pastries.
You can tell how little I know about cooking and baking as I had never seen an example of this before, when in fact Pinterest provides an endless feed if you input the right words.
It seems like the perfect little project for the weekend – easy enough to make, crafty enough to get the creative juices flowing, Insta-worthy and then delicious to savour as a treat.
Bon weekend!
